What Happened?

Dear Parents,

We are starting a unit on events that happened in the past. By the end of this unit your child will be able to identify and observe effects of growth, erosion, dissolving, weathering, and flow. They will also be able to draw conclusions about"what happened before" using fossils or charts and tables. These are all part of the TEKS.


At this site you will play an interactive game about erosion. Click to play Penalty Shootout. You will be asked ten questions about erosion. Read all answer choices before choosing the answer. Read carefully. Parents you and your children help each other out, this game is kind of a tuff one. But you can do it.


At Fossil Fun you get to see how a fossil is made and what happens if the wrong type of environment destroys the fossil. Go ahead and play burying bodies and footprints to see where and how animals act. These sites help you to see and read about what happened to these animals.


At this site you can play a fun game of Hangman. You and your child can learn new words together and your child can review the words they already know. You may need to click on Weathering and Erosion any one will do. Also click Changes to the Earth's Surface. See how many words you can get right. Don't worry if you don't know them all you will learn them.

At this site Science and Nature: Prehistoric Life, you and your child can play a variety of games to help you find facts out about what happened long ago. Please play Can you spot a fake (Fakes and Mistakes). The boys will probably enjoy playing Who dung it. These questions are kind of tuff but see how many you can answer. If you miss some that is ok just see how much you can learn.

Animal Adaptations

Dear Parents,

We are starting a unit on animal adaptations. Your child will be able to at the end of this unit identify characteristics that allow members within a species to survive and reproduce; compare adaptive characteristics of various species. According to the TEKS.

Animal Adaptations has you see if you can beat the clock while answering questions about specific animals. If you answer the bonus questions right you get more time. Have fun trying to beat the clock . You can try other games as well at this site. You may like playing Ladybug Break Down. This game lets you see how lady bugs adapt and change in the environment. It also has interesting facts about ladybugs.

Artic Adventure makes you use your brain. See if you can answer all the interesting things about animals in the Arctic. See if you can answer more questions right than your parents. Read how different animals are in the Arctic than they are here in the U.S.

How Animals meet their needs. Is a game were you can help your child read about the needs of different kinds of animals. Read how they adapt to their environment to stay safe from predators.

Form and Function has alot of interesting facts about animals from the wild. Click to play cool and enjoyable games with your child. You can play what ever activity you would like. They are all educational and fun. Learn things you never would have guessed on your own.

Physical Properties

Dear Parents,

We are going to be starting a unit on physical properties. At the end of this unit your child will be able to conduct test, compare data, and draw conclusions about physical properties of matter. These all go along with the TEKS.

Here are some Internet sites that you and your child will have fun learning all about Physical Properties.

At the site Quia-Matter your child can play a matching game about physical properties and a game called concentration that deals with physical properties. Both games make you think. They are are more wordy than any other game so be prepared to read some but they are still fun and you learn alot.

At the site Gamequarium you can learn about physical and chemical change. This site has many different games to choose from. I would like you to play the game called Grouping and Changing materials. This game lets you choose the grade level you would like to play on. Please start at your grade level but feel free to move up grade levels and try out different more harder games.

Matter Games has some games that will help your child expand their knowledge about matter and it's physical properties. I would like your child to first look at their science book periodic table, then they will be able to get more answers correct when playing the Element Matching and Element Concentration games. Feel free to help them out because we will not cover every element in as much detail as all the others.

Changing State is a fun site that has lots of games that help you see the different states of matter. You can play solids, liquids, and gas's. Play these games with your children. Have them quiz you and see if YOU can answer the questions correctly.

Why Recycle?

Dear Parents,

We are learning about recycling and how important it is to the planet. Learning about recycling is a scientific process in the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). Your child should be able to know what to recycle and local locations were to recycle at by the end of this unit.

Here are some Internet sites that you and your child can explore together. All of the sites will help you and your child know the importance of recycling and how much fun it can be.

At Recycle fun, your child can play a fun game about sorting the objects you recycle. You get to play a fun game that is like a lot of peoples favorite claw games.

Test your brain power at Resourceful Schools, learning about things you never thought could be recycled into another object. For example newsprint can be turned into Kleenex.
You and your parents will learn interesting facts and can play fun interactive games together.

AT Recycle I.Q. see how fast you can choose what to recycle and not. You can start out at the beginners level and move up to a more advanced time level. See if you can beat your parents time.

The Great Green Web Game is a fun fact filled game. There are things we all need to stop doing that harm the planet. This site has things in it I didn't even know I was doing to harm the planet. You and your parents can also see how much we can contribute to making the world a better place to live.
